Rory McIlroy Bought 1.1K Pin Flags After Masters Win, 'Reluctant' to Wear Green Jacket

After winning the Masters in April, Rory McIlroy made sure to grab plenty of souvenirs from Augusta National.

Among those souvenirs were the 1,100 pin flags remaining in the Masters Shop. McIlroy said he purchased all that were left of the pin flags following his win, per the Associated Press (h/t ESPN).

Golfers often sign pin flags at Augusta National, but only champions get the honor of signing the inside of the outline of the United States. McIlroy said he's relished getting to do so.

"It's been a lot," he said. "But I'll never get sick of signing them. I've waited 17 years to sign that flag in the middle, and I will never complain about doing it."

While McIlroy has enjoyed signing pin flags, he hasn't worn his green jacket as much as he thought he would have.

"I'm reluctant to wear it," he said. "It's not as if I wear it a lot. I have it hanging in my wardrobe in a place where I can see it every day. I always thought if I had one -- if I did win the Masters one day -- I'd never have the thing off, and it hasn't been that way. I haven't worn it as much as I thought I would."

McIlroy went into the Masters having accomplished nearly every feat in golf aside from winning a green jacket. Now, McIlroy is finally a Masters champion, and he's clearly been enjoying all that comes with it.
