Jimmy Johnson Recalls Not Letting Cowboys Eat on Plane After a Loss in Netflix Video
NFL coaches have been known to be hard on their players throughout the league's history, but taking away the right to eat is surely seen as a step too far.
Except it wasn't seen that way by Jimmy Johnson.
The former Dallas Cowboys head coach revealed during a clip of Netflix's America's Team: The Gambler and His Cowboys that he once prevented the team from eating a meal on the flight home following a loss.

"After that loss, we get on the plane and I am just fuming because of the way we played," he said. "So the flight attendant starts to serve the meal, and I say, 'No. No meal. They don't deserve to eat.'"
The clip made it perfectly clear the players did not appreciate that tactic.
"I want 'em to be nauseated, to be sick at their stomach when they lose," Johnson continued. "Because that's how I felt."
Fortunately for the Cowboys, they did plenty of winning and, presumably, eating, as Johnson's five-year tenure as head coach continued. While they went 1-15 in his first year in 1989, they went 11-5 in 1991, 13-3 in 1992 and 12-4 in 1993.
What's more, they won back-to-back Super Bowl titles during the 1992 and 1993 campaigns.
Yet Johnson did not return for the 1994 season, and his relationship with team owner Jerry Jones will surely be a focus of the documentary that is scheduled for a Tuesday release.
