Angel Reese Made 'A Lot' of Money Off 'Mebounds' Merch, Donated to Foundation

Joseph ZuckerAug 18, 2025

Chicago Sky star Angel Reese spun "a negative into a positive" when she monetized the "mebounds" term some of her critics coined to scrutinize her game.

"I didn't even know about mebounds until I got on TikTok and people were spamming it in my comments," she said to Elle's Kayla Webley Adler. "And then I was like, well, might as well make some money off of it. And we made a lot of money off of it. It's important to maximize the moment, and turn a negative into a positive. We clearly did that. Also, to be able to give some of the money to my foundation for cyberbullying was great. It was like killing two birds with one stone."

Through two seasons in the WNBA, Reese is averaging 4.6 offensive rebounds per game. Some of that is down to cleaning up her own messes, so "mebounds" was born.

Displaying a shrewd entrepreneurial spirit, the young forward filed a formal application to trademark the word.

Shortly after that, she unveiled her own Mebounds-themed merch, and it's what she christened one of the colorways for her signature shoe with Reebok.

On the court, the 2025 season hasn't gone according to plan for the 23-year-old. While she earned her second straight All-Star nod, a back injury has limited her availability in the second half. In addition, the Sky have the WNBA's second-worst record (8-25).

Off the court, Reese is thriving between Reebok unveiling her shoe, mebounds blowing up, and her getting onto the cover of NBA 2K26.
