Russell Wilson's 80-Yard Pass to Beaux Collins Stuns NFL Fans in Giants vs. Jets

Say what you will about Russell Wilson at this stage of his career, but the man still throws a pretty deep ball.

That much was on display Saturday during the New York Giants' preseason matchup against the New York Jets, as Russell found Beaux Collins for an 80-yard strike.

And that had NFL fans and pundits hype:

Wilson was signed this offseason as part of New York's reworked depth chart at quarterback, which also included the free agency addition of Jameis Winson and the first-round selection of Jaxson Dart.

All three played in the team's first preseason game, a 34-25 win over the Buffalo Bills. Wilson finished 6-of-7 for 28 yards, Winston was 7-of-11 for 62 yards and a score and Dart was 10-of-14 for y3 yards and a touchdown. Dart also rushed three times for 24 yards, while Winston had a 14-yard scamper.

While it is fair to question if Dart will eventually take over the starting role this season, there has never been any question that Wilson will open the 2025 season atop the depth chart.

"These guys will be out here competing, but Russ is our starter," head coach Brian Daboll told reporters in late July.

"I think there's some real benefits from sitting and learning specifically from some of the guys in the room that have the experience that they have," general manager Joe Schoen added while speaking on Dart. "But if the coaching staff at some point feels it's right and he's ready, then I'll leave that up to them."

It's pretty clear the Giants would be abundantly happy utilizing the solid-if-now-unspectacular Wilson as a bridge quarterback, bringing along Dart slowly before handing over the reins next season. And if Wilson keeps hitting moon balls like the one he threw on Saturday, it will be easy enough to stick to that plan.
