Colts Fans Call for Anthony Richardson as QB1 over Daniel Jones After Packers Game
Anthony Richardson is making a strong case for the Indianapolis Colts' starting quarterback job over Daniel Jones after an impressive preseason showing against the Green Bay Packers on Saturday.
Richardson took over for Jones — the former New York Giant and Minnesota Viking — after the first quarter and completed 6-of-11 passes for 73 yards. He led three scoring drives, resulting in two field goals and a three-yard touchdown rush by Tyler Goodson, helping his team build a 13-3 lead by halftime.
Jones, meanwhile, went 7-of-11 for 101 yards but lost a fumble in the opening quarter. The offense appeared noticeably more sluggish and disorganized under his direction compared to the rhythm and tempo Richardson brought in the second frame.

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Colts fans took to social media after Saturday’s game, calling for Richardson to be named the starter following his poised and productive performance.
Richardson earned the starting job last season after being drafted fourth overall by the Colts in 2023 out of Florida, but he appeared in only four games before injuries cut his rookie campaign short. Limited by back and foot issues, Richardson completed 47.7 percent of his passes for 1,814 yards and eight touchdowns.
Turnovers have been a recurring issue for the 23-year-old, who threw 12 interceptions and accounted for nine fumbles last season — a concern he’ll need to address if he hopes to earn and keep the starting job this year.
The Colts will wrap up their preseason on the road against the Cincinnati Bengals next Saturday.
