Shedeur Sanders Praised By Browns GM After NFL Debut, Says He's 'Proud' of QB

Andrew PetersAug 15, 2025

Cleveland Browns general manager Andrew Berry had high praise for one of his rookie quarterbacks after his preseason debut.

On the sideline during the Browns' 30-10 win over the Carolina Panthers last week, Berry commended Shedeur Sanders for his performance.

"You did a really, really good job. I'm proud of you," Berry said. "Really, really nice job... Was it perfect? No, but you made plays, you operated... Listen, you did a nice job today, alright? So just take what you learned from tonight and apply it to the joint practices and to the preseason games."

Sanders had plenty to be proud of after his first NFL preseason game. He threw for 138 yards and a pair of touchdowns, completing 14 of his 23 passes and adding 19 yards on the ground. Things will get tougher in the regular season, but it's a great start for the fifth-round pick.

But despite a strong preseason game, Sanders still has plenty of work to do this offseason. Sanders is still fourth on the Browns' depth chart behind Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett and Dillon Gabriel, so he'll have to perform well in the final weeks of training camp as he vies for the starting job.
