Ospreay, Omega's Team Beat Mox, Young Bucks' Team in Steel Cage at AEW Forbidden Door
The team of Will Ospreay, Kenny Omega, Kota Ibushi, Hiroshi Tanahashi and Darby Allin defeated Jon Moxley, The Young Bucks, Claudio Castagnoli and Gabe Kidd in a five-on-five lights out steel cage match at AEW Forbidden Door on Sunday.
Tanahashi scored the pin in his final match ever in the United Kingdom following a demolition derby of a match.
After the match, Ospreay was brutally attacked by Moxley and his team, seemingly writing him off AEW television for the foreseeable future.
Many of the competitors in the chaotic, 10-man cage match had a history of bad blood with each other, and things truly came to a head on the Aug. 13 episode of Dynamite.
After beating Kevin Knight in a match, Mox and The Death Riders attacked him, prompting Allin to make the save. Once Allin started to get overwhelmed, Ospreay made a surprise return from a neck issue and ran off The Death Riders.
That led to Ospreay laying down a challenge for Forbidden Door that would see him lead a team against a team headlined by Moxley in a lights out cage match.
Moxley put together a team comprised of his Death Riders stablemate in Castagnoli, an associate of The Death Riders in Kidd, and The Young Bucks, who helped Mox retain the AEW world title against Swerve Strickland at Dynasty and later teamed with Moxley in the Anarchy in the Arena match at Double or Nothing.
Omega opposed The Death Riders in that same Anarchy in the Arena match, plus he has had numerous issues with his former Elite stablemates in The Young Bucks, so his addition to Ospreay's team made perfect sense.
Joining Omega was his Golden Lovers tag team partner in Ibushi, as well as Allin, who returned from a lengthy absence at All In to help "Hangman" Adam Page beat Moxley for the AEW World Championship.
The final addition to Ospreay's squad was a Japanese wrestling legend in Tanahashi, who was previously announced to be wrestling his last-ever match in the United Kingdom at Forbidden Door.
Tanahashi, 48, will retire from in-ring competition after New Japan Pro-Wrestling's Wrestle Kingdom 20 in January 2026, and Forbidden Door represented an opportunity for another high-profile bout during the final months of his career.
Ultimately, Tanahashi went out in the UK as a winner with him, Ospreay, Omega, Ibushi and Allin meshing together quickly to take down Moxley and his group in a frenzied cage match where no holds or weapons were barred.
