Liverpool's second pre-season outing sees them head Down Under to face Australian A-League side Brisbane Roar on Friday.

Brendan Rodgers' squad flew to Queensland from Bangkok immediately after their 4-0 win over True Thai All Stars on Tuesday evening, landing on Wednesday morning local time.

That opening game saw the Reds earn a victory courtesy of goals from Lazar Markovic, Mamadou Sakho, Adam Lallana and Divock Origi. 

It also saw Rodgers use a different XI in each half, something that is likely to continue in Brisbane.

The match takes place at the 52,000 capacity Suncorp Stadium.

Liverpool will sport their new all-white away kit for the first time after that was unveiled on Thursday.

Opposition

Brisbane Roar finished last season's A-League in sixth place (out of 10 teams)—a drop-off from the season before when they won the title for the second time in their history.

The Black and Orange are without captain and Australia international Matt McKay for the match due to injury.

They're managed by former Portsmouth and Coventry City forward John Aloisi.

Last Time Down Under

Last time Liverpool were in Australia two years ago, they played Melbourne Victory at the famous Melbourne Cricket Ground, attracting a record crowd of 95,000—the majority of whom went away happy after seeing goals from Steven Gerrard and Iago Aspas provide a 2-0 victory.

Incredibly, of the 11 players who started that game, only five are in the touring squad this summer.

Team News

The only change to the Liverpool squad since that game in Thailand has seen Raheem Sterling's departure to Manchester City confirmed, but the 20-year-old hadn't travelled on the tour anyway. That means Rodgers has the same 29 players available for selection.

Off the pitch, there has been an addition, however, with newly appointed first-team coach Gary McAllister joining the squad in Brisbane on Thursday.

Rodgers utilised his two preferred formations in the match in Bangkok—the 4-4-2 diamond and 4-3-3—and that could continue again on Friday.

New signing Origi looked more comfortable in a central role than out wide in a front three where he was often used while on loan at Lille last season. He'll be looking to build confidence after a goal on his debut.

The English midfield duo of Jordan Henderson and James Milner were paired together in Thailand as Rodgers looks to get them working together and understanding each other; both are set for key roles next season.

The one surprise in Bangkok was the exclusion of Alberto Moreno from either XI; the young Spaniard was named as a substitute with Andre Wisdom and Joe Maguire used instead. Whether he has an injury or not has not been revealed.
