Cade Klubnik to Browns, Garrett Nussmeier to Jets in Todd McShay's 2026 NFL Mock Draft
The Cleveland Browns are in the middle of a four-way quarterback race ahead of the 2025 season, but that won't stop them from adding another with the No. 1 pick of the 2026 NFL draft.
At least in the eyes of NFL draft expert Todd McShay.
McShay released a mock draft Wednesday and projected the Browns to select Clemson's Cade Klubnik with the first pick. The Clemson love doesn't stop there, as he projected the New Orleans Saints to take pass-rusher T.J. Parker with the No. 2 pick and the Carolina Panthers to pick defensive lineman Peter Woods at No. 7.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Here is a look at the full top 10:
- Cleveland Browns: QB Cade Klubnik, Clemson
- New Orleans Saints: Edge T.J. Parker, Clemson
- New York Giants: OT Spencer Fano, Utah
- New York Jets: QB Garrett Nussmeier, LSU
- Tennessee Titans: DS Caleb Downs, Ohio State
- Las Vegas Raiders: QB LaNorris Sellers, South Carolina
- Carolina Panthers: IDL Peter Woods, Clemson
- Miami Dolphins: OT Kadyn Proctor, Alabama
- Chicago Bears: Edge Keldric Faulk, Auburn
- Seattle Seahawks: IDL Caleb Banks, Florida
As always when it comes to the NFL draft, the quarterback position stands out.
Cleveland finishing with the No. 1 pick and going with Klubnik would mean its signal-caller experiment that includes bringing in veterans Joe Flacco and Kenny Pickett while drafting Shedeur Sanders and Dillon Gabriel didn't lead to much optimism about the future.
Sanders had an impressive preseason debut, but he was still a fifth-round pick who might find himself buried on the depth chart depending on how the rest of training camp unfolds. And Flacco is anything but a long-term answer at 40 years old.
The New York Jets have also been searching for an answer at quarterback for years, and taking LSU's Garrett Nussmeier at No. 4 overall implies Justin Fields will not be that answer in 2025.
"In that scenario, I'd have New York taking Nussmeier, who lacks the ideal size of Drew Allar and the dizzying athleticism of LaNorris Sellers but has the accuracy, timing, leadership, and experience to reach the top half of the first round next April," McShay wrote.
Browns and Jets fans might not want to think about starting over at the most important position yet again, especially with an entire new season ahead of them. But that will be the case if McShay's early mock draft comes to fruition.
