Blake Monroe Beats Jordynne Grace in Historic PLE Singles Debut at NXT Heatwave 2025

Blake Monroe was victorious in the first premium live event singles match of her WWE career Sunday, beating rival Jordynne Grace at NXT Heatwave.

Monroe slammed Grace's head into an exposed turnbuckle before hitting her DDT finisher to earn the win in a match that garnered "Fight Forever!" chants from the live audience.

The relationship between Monroe and Grace was cultivated shortly after Monroe made her WWE debut back in June, as both of them had NXT women's champion Jacy Jayne in their crosshairs.

Monroe confronted Jayne during her debut segment, and just a couple of weeks later, Grace won a Fatal 4-Way No. 1 contender's match to earn an NXT women's title match at Evolution.

Grace and Monroe helped each other in their battles with Jayne and Fatal Influence on numerous occasions, which led to them teaming up against Jayne and Fallon Henley in a tag team match at Great American Bash last month.

Monroe and Grace won the match when Monroe pinned Jayne, which helped give Grace momentum entering her NXT Women's Championship match against Jayne the next night at Evolution.

While Monroe was in Grace's corner for the Evolution match in an apparent effort to neutralize interference from Fatal Influence, the actual reason for Monroe's ringside presence was far more nefarious.

During the latter stages of the match, Monroe hit Grace with the NXT women's title belt while the referee was distracted, allowing Jayne to pin Grace and retain the championship.

After Monroe beat Wren Sinclair on the July 22 episode of NXT, Grace showed up in search of revenge, making her way through the crowd and into the ring. While Grace got her hands on Monroe initially, Blake had the last laugh.

Monroe hit Grace with a DDT onto a steel chair, forcing Grace to wear a neck brace and keeping her out of action for the next couple of weeks.

However, after Grace ran off Monroe and caused her to lose a match to Kelani Jordan by count-out on the Aug. 5 NXT, a grudge match between Grace and Monroe was made official for Heatwave.

With Monroe coming out on top, it perhaps puts her in line for a future NXT Women's Championship match, and it is fair to wonder if Sunday's match may have been Grace's NXT swan song before getting called up to the main roster.
