Jets' Breece Hall Says Cook, Kyren Have 'Done Much More' in NFL amid New Contracts

Doric SamAug 13, 2025

After running backs James Cook and Kyren Williams cashed in with contract extensions from the Buffalo Bills and Los Angeles Rams, respectively, New York Jets star Breece Hall could be next in line for a major deal.

However, Hall told reporters on Wednesday that he's not getting ahead of himself in thinking about what his next deal will be.

"Nah, because they’ve both done much more in this league than I have," Hall said. "They’ve been in better situations, and they're both very good players. Obviously, I feel like I’m just as talented as anyone, but those guys are two really good running backs, and they deserve their payday and they got what they deserve, so I'm happy for them."

A second-round pick in the 2022 NFL draft, Hall is entering the final year of his rookie contract. Since he wasn't a first-round pick, the Jets didn't have the security of a fifth-year option to keep him in the fold for another season while working on a potential extension. If New York doesn't trade him during the 2025 campaign, he will be the team's top candidate to receive the franchise tag next offseason.

Cook signed a four-year, $48 million extension with the Bills on Wednesday, and Williams received a three-year, $33 million extension from the Rams last week. If Hall wants to exceed those numbers he will need a big year in the Jets' first season under new head coach Aaron Glenn.

While New York has depth at the running back position with second-year speedsters Braelon Allen and Isaiah Davis, Glenn made it clear that Hall will remain a major factor in the team's offense. His receiving skills will likely make him one of the top targets for new Jets quarterback Justin Fields.

If Hall can stay healthy in 2025, he will undoubtedly be motivated to prove that he deserves a new deal in the near future.
