Jalen Hurts Had 'Very Lengthy' Talk with Shedeur Sanders at Browns-Eagles Practice
It is difficult to think of many better people for rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders to get advice from than the reigning Super Bowl champion at his position, and he got that chance during Wednesday's joint practice with the Philadelphia Eagles.
"I'll keep the conversation intimate. We had a very lengthy conversation," Jalen Hurts said of his talk with the Cleveland Browns rookie, per Zach Berman of The Athletic. "He came to me and just wanted to talk. I'm always there...giving my perspective on what I see and how I've gone about things. Ultimately, it takes a great deal of patience and hard work and a sense of resilience. You've got to want it. You've got to want it. I'm supporting him from where I am and wishing him nothing but the best with his opportunities."

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Hurts even gave Sanders a ride back to the locker room in a golf cart:
Sanders might need some of that patience and resilience Hurts mentioned because he suffered an oblique injury during Wednesday's practice and missed the remainder of the time with the Eagles, per Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com.
Cabot also noted Sanders "probably" won't play Saturday's preseason contest against Philadelphia as a result.
That's quite a blow for the Colorado product, considering he played so well in his preseason debut against the Carolina Panthers. He went 14-of-23 passing for 138 yards, two touchdowns and zero interceptions while adding 19 yards on the ground.
Head coach Kevin Stefanski also told reporters ahead of Wednesday's practice that the plan was to start Sanders against the Eagles if Dillon Gabriel was unavailable because of his hamstring injury.
It would have been another chance for Sanders to make a statement in the four-way quarterback race that also features Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett and Gabriel and perhaps climb the depth chart after he was a fifth-round pick.
Sanders falling that far in the draft was a surprise and became the main storyline of the event, but he can put that all behind him with solid play at the NFL level. The preseason game against the Panthers was an ideal start, but it will take more than that to navigate the ups and downs that come with being under the spotlight on the sport's highest level.
Nobody knows that better than Hurts, who transferred in college after losing his starting job at Alabama and overcame questions about his throwing ability in the NFL. Now he is the reigning Super Bowl champion and Super Bowl MVP as one of the faces of the league.
Few quarterbacks have navigated obstacles as successfully as him, which makes Hurts a valuable supporter for Sanders early in his career.
