Jordan Love Has Potential to Be Among NFL's 'Elites' at QB Position, Packers HC Says

Doric SamAug 13, 2025

In just two seasons as a full-time starter, Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love has already established himself as one of the top signal-callers in the NFL, and head coach Matt LaFleur has high expectations for his career trajectory.

LaFleur told The Athletic's Jeff Howe that he feels Love has the skills to reach the upper echelon of players at his position.

"I’d hate to put a ceiling on him," LaFleur said, "because I think he can be one of the elites in this league."

Love played 15 games in 2024 and threw for 3,389 yards, 25 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. He helped lead the Packers to their second straight playoff appearance, though they lost to the eventual Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles in the wild card round.

If Love can stay healthy, he will have a strong chance to fulfill LaFleur's expectations. The 26-year-old recently underwent surgery to repair a ligament injury to his left thumb, but the Packers expect him to be ready for the season opener against the Detroit Lions on Sept. 7.

Green Bay also made an effort to surround Love with more talent by drafting promising wide receiver Matthew Golden with the 23rd pick in the 2025 draft and signing veteran wideout Mecole Hardman.

If it all comes together this season, Love can achieve his first selection to the Pro Bowl and help the Packers contend for a spot in the Super Bowl.
