Odell Beckham Jr. Reacts to Fake Rumor About NFL Retirement, 'LOL WTF'

Andrew PetersAug 12, 2025

Odell Beckham Jr. isn't calling it a career just yet.

After a social media post claimed that the wide receiver was retiring, Beckham responded and assured fans that the claim was false.

"LOL WTF… when was that announced and by who?" Beckham wrote. "That’s funny, appreciate the concerns but this Shxt ain’t over yet."

Now that Beckham has dispelled any rumors about his retirement, his next task will be finding a team to play for in 2025.

Beckham started the 2024 campaign with the Miami Dolphins, but the two sides mutually decided to part ways in December. While he hoped to land with another squad before the end of the season, he went unsigned after his departure from Miami. He played nine games last year, pulling in nine receptions for 55 yards.

Beckham had a tremendous start to his NFL journey and appeared on his way to having a Hall of Fame-worthy career. Unfortunately, injuries and other factors have taken a toll on him in the years since his strong start.

He played just four games in 2017 after suffering a fractured ankle with the New York Giants, and he played just 12 games in 2018 after a falling out with the team. That led to him being traded to the Cleveland Browns in 2019, when he recorded 1,035 receiving yards and four touchdowns.

He was unable to build off of the momentum of that season, however, and had a shaky final two seasons with the Browns. After being traded to the Los Angeles Rams in 2021, he suffered a torn ACL in the Super Bowl and didn't land with a team in 2022.

While he's far from the Pro Bowl-caliber receiver he once was, he put together a strong campaign with the Baltimore Ravens in 2023, recording 565 yards and three touchdowns.

He'll look to find a team willing to sign him and return to that version of himself in 2025.
