Quinn Ewers Criticized by Fans After Struggling in NFL Preseason Debut for Dolphins

While rookie quarterbacks like Shedeur Sanders and Cam Ward had memorable preseason debuts this weekend, Miami Dolphins first-year signal-caller Quinn Ewers had one to forget.

Ewers failed to take advantage of the opportunity to show his skills in Sunday's matchup against the Chicago Bears, finishing with 91 yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions after completing just five of his 18 passes. He was sacked twice and he lost two fumbles as the game ended in a 24-24 tie.

The former Texas starting quarterback was playing behind veterans Tua Tagovailoa and Zach Wilson, the latter of whom threw for a team-high 96 yards on 5-of-9 passing. Tagovailoa threw for 27 yards on 5-of-6 passing.

Fans on social media didn't let Ewers off the hook after his struggles in his first taste of NFL action on Sunday:

The Dolphins selected Ewers with a seventh-round pick in this year's draft, so it's obvious that he will need some time to develop. Miami will certainly be hoping to see signs of improvement over the next two preseason games.

Ewers will have the chance to bounce back when the Dolphins meet the Detroit Lions on Saturday.
