Fox Sports' Greg Auman reported the status quo is resuming when Tampa Bay is back on the field against the Pittsburgh Steelers next Saturday:
In terms of sartorial changes, changing the logo size on the helmet is relatively subtle. The protective gear also appeared to have more of a matte finish with the primary pewter color. A lot of people who watched Saturday's game were probably none the wiser.
For those who did pick up on the switch, the reaction was overwhelmingly negative.
It's unclear what prompted the organization to shift away, albeit briefly, from the old helmets. While they rolled out the new "Creamsicle" throwbacks, the Buccaneers didn't adopt a wider rebrand.
The pirate flag logo is the one constant in Tampa Bay's uniform since it pivoted away from its original orange-and-white design in 1997.
