Report: Hardy Still Mulling Lawsuit Against NFL

Hardy seemed to score a major coup by winning the initial appeal of his suspension. However, he may be unwilling to accept the four-game ban that is currently in place.

According to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, the 26-year-old pass-rusher will decide whether to pursue litigation against the NFL "any time now." If he does, then the goal is to have the suspension further reduced to two games, which was the standard suspension prior to the personal conduct policy being changed in the wake of the Ray Rice situation.

Hardy already missed 15 games last season as a member of the Carolina Panthers. He was placed on the commissioner's exempt list while his appeal case was still active after he was originally found guilty of assaulting his ex-girlfriend. The case was subsequently dismissed, though, when Hardy's ex-girlfriend did not appear in court for the appeal.

The Cowboys took a chance on Hardy in free agency prior to his initial suspension being announced, and as pointed out by ESPN's Ed Werder, it looks like a sound decision thus far:

Should Hardy decide to take legal action against the league and ultimately win that case, then the signing will look even better since Dallas would presumably have him for 14 games.

Hardy is one of the best defensive ends in football when he is on the field, as he registered 15 sacks in 2013, which was his last full season. 

Dallas has already come out on the winning end in this deal, but if Hardy's four-game suspension is cut in half, then the decision to sign the former Pro Bowler could pay huge dividends for the Cowboys.
