During the fourth quarter of Detroit's 17-10 win, Norris was injured while attempting to tackle Falcons running back Nathan Carter. Norris' head snapped back viciously, and medical personnel attended to him for about 20 minutes on the field before he was loaded into an ambulance, per ESPN's Marc Raimondi.
Following the injury, Lions and Falcons players decided against finishing the game, and officials announced the remainder of it had been suspended with 6:31 remaining.
On Friday night, the Lions released a statement on Norris' status, noting that he was "in stable condition and has feeling and movement in all his extremities."
In a post on X, Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold expressed relief that Norris seemingly avoided a serious injury, and he included a screenshot of a smiling Norris from a FaceTime conversation:
The 24-year-old Norris was not selected in the 2024 NFL draft out of Fresno State, but he signed with the Lions as an undrafted free agent last year.
After spending most of the 2024 campaign on the Lions' practice squad, Norris was called up late in the season and was active for Detroit's Week 17 and 18 games.
Norris was primarily utilized on special teams in those two games, playing just one snap on defense.
He also played in the Lions' NFC Divisional Round playoff loss to the Washington Commanders, recording three tackles on 23 special teams snaps and 22 defensive snaps.
The Lions will be back in action on Aug. 16 when they host the Miami Dolphins in their second of three preseason games.
Their regular season opener is a road game against the NFC North rival Green Bay Packers on Sept. 7.
