Detroit Lions safety Morice Norris suffered a serious injury in the fourth quarter of the team's preseason matchup with the Atlanta Falcons on Friday.

Norris' head appeared to snap back after hitting the leg of Falcons running back Nathan Carter during a tackle attempt. He stayed down after the play was over and ended up leaving the field in an ambulance.

The game was suspended following Norris' injury, and he was transported to the hospital for further evaluation. The Lions later announced that Norris was in stable condition and has feeling and movement in his extremities.

Before the contest was suspended, players from both teams gathered in a circle near the middle of the field and were prepared to let the clock run out for the rest of the fourth quarter instead of continuing to compete.

Falcons head coach Raheem Morris discussed the decision to end the game early.

“It was tough to watch, it was tough for the other team to see, getting a teammate hurt that way,” Morris said (h/t On3.com's Grant Grubbs). “It was the right thing to do for Dan and his team, and everything they had going on. I thought it was the right thing (to do)… It was just common ground, common courtesy. Just didn’t like the look of it."

Norris recorded three tackles before suffering the injury.

The 24-year-old is entering his second season with the Lions, signing with team as an undrafted free agent in 2024.

Norris appeared in two regular-season games with Detroit as a rookie, primarily contributing on special teams.
