WWE Reportedly Not Planning Rhodes Heel Turn

Despite some recent speculation to the contrary, WWE is reportedly not looking to make any significant changes to WWE champion Cody Rhodes' character.

According to WrestleVotes (h/t Wrestle Ops), there are no plans in place for WWE to turn Rhodes heel "in the foreseeable future."

Earlier this year, Rhodes was involved in a storyline with The Rock in which The Rock urged him to "sell his soul" in order to become the champion The Final Boss wanted him to be.

Rhodes gave his answer at Elimination Chamber, turning down The Rock's offer. That led to John Cena shockingly turning heel by viciously attacking The American Nightmare.

After WrestleMania 41, which saw Cena beat Rhodes for the WWE title, The Rock appeared on the Pat McAfee Show (h/t Subhojeet Mukherjee of Ringside News) and divulged that he legitimately pitched a Rhodes heel turn before the decision to turn Cena was made.

Although the Cody turn didn't happen, The Rock said it was something WWE could "go back" to in the future.

Just two days before the rematch between Rhodes and Cena at SummerSlam, Cena turned back to being a babyface on SmackDown. That led to plenty of theories regarding Rhodes possibly turning heel at SummerSlam with help from The Rock.

Instead, Rhodes won the title back from Cena honorably, cementing spot as WWE's top full-time babyface.

A Rhodes heel turn at some point in the future may be an inevitability, but it doesn't sound like it will be in the cards any time soon.

Reigns vs. Rollins Reportedly Planned as Future Match

Former friends and longtime rivals Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins are reportedly ticketed for a major match in the future.

According to WrestleVotes (h/t Wrestle Ops), WWE is saving a singles match between Reigns and Rollins for a future premium live event.

That reported plan comes as little surprise given that Reigns and Rollins are two of WWE's biggest stars and have a ton of history with one another.

They were once members of The Shield before Rollins broke the group up several years ago, and Rollins orchestrated Paul Heyman turning his back on Reigns more recently.

At WrestleMania 41, Reigns faced Rollins and CM Punk in a Triple Threat match. Heyman turned on both Reigns and Punk by aligning with Rollins and helping him win.

On the ensuing episode of Raw, Rollins and Bron Breakker attacked Reigns, putting him on the shelf for a few months.

Reigns returned to team with Jey Uso in a winning effort against Breakker and Bronson Reed at SummerSlam, and Rollins returned from a fake knee injury to successfully cash in his Money in the Bank contract and beat Punk for the World Heavyweight Championship.

Rollins, Breakker and Reed then beat down Reigns on Raw, meaning The OTC will undoubtedly be out for revenge.

It remains to be seen when he will try to exact it, Reigns vs. Rollins for the world title makes a ton of sense for a PLE down the line.

Kross Reportedly Receives WWE Contract Offer

Amid rumors of his contract expiring, WWE reportedly may be making a play to retain Karrion Kross.

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (h/t WrestlePurists), WWE recently made Kross a contract offer, although terms of the deal are not known, nor is Kross' response.

Meltzer added that Kross had not yet re-signed with WWE as of Friday morning.

Earlier this week, Fightful Select (h/t Steve Carrier of Ringside News) reported that the WWE contracts of Kross and his wife and manager, Scarlett, were set to expire over the weekend.

Fightful also reported at the time that neither Kross nor Scarlett had been approached with an offer from WWE yet.

At SummerSlam last weekend, Kross faced Sami Zayn in a rubber match after they traded wins.

The match included a stipulation that stated Zayn would have to admit everything Kross said about him was truthful if Kross won, whereas Kross would have to admit he was wrong if he lost.

Zayn was victorious at SummerSlam, but Kross did not get on the mic to satisfy the stipulation, and he did not appear on Raw either.

While Kross has not advanced past the midcard since returning to WWE in 2022 less than one year after getting released, he has been generating a strong response from the fans in recent months.

That suggests Kross may have a ceiling that he hasn't yet reached, which could be why WWE is reportedly now making an attempt to keep him in the fold.
