Dak Prescott Says '11 is a Cowboy' amid Micah Parsons Contract Talks, Just 'Business'

Timothy RappAug 7, 2025

Extension negotiations between Micah Parsons and the Dallas Cowboys have been contentious, to say the least, with both sides airing out their grievances publicly.

But quarterback Dak Prescott isn't worried about the situation devolving into a trade despite Parsons requesting one and team owner Jerry Jones telling reporters he isn't confident Parsons will be on the field for the regular-season opener against the Philadelphia Eagles.

"I think if I wouldn't have been in his shoes, and watched other guys be in his shoes and get rewarded, maybe [I'd be concerned Parsons would be traded]," Prescott told reporters on Thursday. "But I've got faith in the Joneses and the team as I do in Micah and his team. Eleven is a Cowboy."

Perhaps. The very public nature of this situation has made it feel a bit more intense than contract disputes involving Prescott or CeeDee Lamb in the past. But Prescott believes any potential rift between Parsons and Jones can be solved by ensuring that the situation stays professional.

"At the end of the day, it is business," Prescott told reporters. "We can't make something business personal. I think when you do that, that's where the division comes. ... Once that business deal happens, you can move forward."
