FedEx St. Jude Championship Leaderboard 2025, Top Scorecards, Player Stats on Day 1
Akshay Bhatia stormed out to the first-round lead at the FedEx St. Jude Championship with an eight-under 62.
Bhatia had the best round at TPC Southwind by multiple strokes until Tommy Fleetwood used an afternoon surge to get to seven-under.
The challenges are lining up beneath Bhatia and Fleetwood, though, as 10 golfers sit within four strokes of the lead.
Scottie Scheffler, who leads the FedEx Cup standings, is five shots back after a three-under 67. He shouldn't be counted out, though, as he leads the PGA Tour with four victories this season.

Akshay Bhatia Cards 62 to Take Lead
2 of 4
Akshay Bhatia benefited from an incredible finish to take the 18-hole lead at TPC Southwind.
Bhatia carded an eagle on the par-five 16th hole and then rolled in birdies on the 17th and 18th holes to finish with a 62.
Bhatia totaled seven birdies to go along with the eagle. He had a single bogey on the par-four 12th hole.
The 23-year-old entered the week in 45th place in the FedEx Cup standings. He is currently projected to head to the BMW Championship in fourth.
Bhatia is far from locked in to the win and a surge up the FedEx Cup standings, but Thursday's round did serve as a strong open to the playoffs for him.
Tommy Fleetwood Uses Strong Back Nine to Card 63
3 of 4
Tommy Fleetwood rolled in four consecutive birdies to finish his round and land at seven-under.
Fleetwood produced five birdies in total on the back nine to place himself one shot behind Bhatia.
The Englishman's run of birdies began on the eighth hole. He shot seven-under from the 8th to 18th holes.
The birdie-filled round set the tone for Fleetwood's next three weeks. He is one of a few golfers with an outside chance to chase down Scottie Scheffler for the top spot in the FedEx Cup standings.
Fleetwood needs a high finish at TPC Southwind for that to be in play over the next two weeks. He enters Friday four shots ahead of Scheffler.
Scottie Scheffler Sits Five Shots Back
4 of 4
Scottie Scheffler turned in a solid round for 17 holes.
Then the world's No. 1 golfer produced a bogey on the 18th hole to drop back down to three-under.
Scheffler had a bogey-free round going up until that point. He carded four birdies, two on each nine, to slowly move up the leaderboard.
The four-time winner this season on the PGA Tour has plenty of time to make a surge up the leaderboard between now and Sunday.
A five-shot gap is nothing for him to make up, so he must still be considered as one of the contenders in Memphis.
A steady week at TPC Southwind will put the FedEx Cup within closer reach for Scheffler, who leads everyone in the field by at least 1,000 points.
