Jason Kelce Jokes 2017 Eagles Would 'Beat the F--k Out Of' 2024 Team That Beat Mahomes

Former Philadelphia Eagles star Jason Kelce has fully embraced life as a retired athlete because he's already joking about the young guns of today not matching up to the battle-tested legends of the past.

Speaking to Eagles defensive backs Cooper DeJean and Reed Blankenship for their Exciting Mics podcast, Kelce sang the praises of the squad that won Super Bowl LIX last year. Still, he lightheartedly maintained that the title-winning team from 2017 would "beat the f--k out of you guys."

Nick Foles' supernova run while filling in for an injured Carson Wentz and the "Philly Special" have become the defining aspects of a season that ended in the Eagles beating Tom Brady and the New England Patriots 41-33 in Super Bowl LII.

Because of that, it's easy to forget Philadelphia had a 13-3 record and a top-10 offense and defense in 2017. It had six representatives named to the Pro Bowl.

While beating the Patriots qualified as an upset, the Eagles weren't some plucky underdog that year who lucked their way into a championship.

Likewise, the dominance of the 2024 team might be somewhat overstated because the lasting image it left was smothering the Kansas City Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes in the Super Bowl.

Heading into the playoffs, the job security of head coach Nick Sirianni seemed to be in doubt because people still weren't totally sold by a 14-3 record and an NFC East title.

A head-to-head battle between the 2017 and 2024 Eagles might be closer than Kelce was letting on.
