Panthers HC Dave Canales Praises Bryce Young, No 'Ceiling' Ahead of 3rd NFL Season
Carolina Panthers head coach Dave Canales has high hopes for his quarterback in Year 3.
Canales praised Bryce Young's growth in his second season and said he thinks Young is capable of putting together a big season if his team helps him out.
"I don't think there's a ceiling for Bryce," Canales said. "I think that, first and foremost, it's team football and Dan Morgan and I talk about this all the time. If we build this team right and we put Bryce into big games, big situations, big moments, he'll come through for us. What I saw from him is just, whatever the situation might have been, whoever the opponent was—we brought some really good teams in here with the Chiefs and the Eagles and we played them really well. No moral victories—we lost those games, we didn't finish well—but the moments and the situations that we put Bryce into as a team that we did collectively, he came through and he played well and he earned so much respect from his teammates and the fanbase."

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Young struggled in his first season and improved slightly in Year 2, throwing for 2,403 yards, 14 touchdowns and nine interceptions in 14 games. The former No. 1 overall pick showed flashes of potential, like a 263-yard performance that was nearly enough to take down the Kansas City Chiefs. He also had 251 passing yards and five total touchdowns in an overtime win against the Atlanta Falcons.
But performances like those are a bit of a rarity and Young is still looking to be more consistent. Canales thinks he's capable of putting together a strong third season.
