Travis Kelce Says He's Thrown Chiefs' Super Bowl 59 Loss to Eagles 'In the Trash'

Doric SamAug 6, 2025

Kansas City Chiefs star tight end Travis Kelce isn't using the team's disappointing loss in Super Bowl LIX as motivation for the 2025 season, as he's completely put the moment behind him.

"I've thrown that thing in the trash," Kelce said of the Chiefs' blowout loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, per ESPN's Nate Taylor. "I've moved on. It happened sooner than you can imagine. I was pretty focused on this year in the offseason."

Entering his 13th year in the NFL, Kelce appears to be bringing a renewed sense of energy to the Chiefs after failing to pull off the first three-peat in modern NFL history. Kansas City has been the league's most prominent dynasty in recent years, but the loss to Philadelphia could signify the beginning of the end as a new era of Super Bowl contenders emerge.

Taylor noted that Kelce hasn't missed a single practice this offseason and "has been one of the Chiefs' most diligent players throughout camp." The soon-to-be 36-year-old appears to have turned back the clock to his prime, when he was far and away the best tight end in the NFL.

"He's svelte right now. He looks like he's 20," Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said of Kelce two weeks ago. "He's doing a good job and he's in great shape. I'm not sure he didn't come in first on the whole conditioning thing. He was right up front. You can see he's been working out. He's worked hard to get to this spot."

Kelce made it clear that he's embracing the grind of the offseason, even this late in his career.

"You've got to go through the dog days and enjoy it for what it is, man," Kelce said. "We're rocking and rolling, man. It's training camp, so you're going to feel the soreness and the heavy workload you're getting every day. You've got to enjoy it for what it is and fight through that."
