Packers' Jordan Love Says 'Really Polished' WR Matthew Golden Will Be 'Stud' as Rookie
Green Bay Packers first-round pick Matthew Golden has already impressed star quarterback Jordan Love.
While speaking to ESPN's Kevin Clark, Love praised Golden for being "really polished" entering his first year in the NFL and made a bold statement on the future outlook of the rookie wide receiver.
"He’s gonna be a stud," Love declared.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
After a stellar 2024 season at Texas in which he produced 58 catches for 987 yards and nine touchdowns, Golden landed with the Packers with the 23rd pick in this year's draft, giving Love a much-needed No. 1 receiver that had been missing in Green Bay for quite some time. The team hasn't had a player record 900 receiving yards in a season since Davante Adams in 2021.
Love explained that Golden wasted no time in showing his skills for the Packers throughout this offseason, and he can be even better once he has a full grasp of the offense.
"Man, I think he’s shown up since Day 1 and just really shown his play style, shown what he’s all about," Love said. "He came in really polished and has been making plays since Day 1. He’s got very aggressive hands, he’s a smooth route runner, he’s got speed. So I think for him, it’s just continuing to understand the playbook and wrap his head around everything we have in. We have a very deep system. But you can see, when he knows what he’s doing, and he’s feeling confident, he’s been playing lights out."
In addition to selecting Golden in the first round, the Packers further bolstered their receiving corps by drafting former TCU wideout Savion Williams in the third round. Both rookies will have to be ready to make an impact as Green Bay tries to contend for a spot in the Super Bowl in the competitive NFC.
The Packers will face the New York Jets in their preseason opener on Saturday, which will provide a first look at Golden and the rest of Green Bay's 2025 draft class.
