Dolphins' Mike McDaniel Gives Bizarre Quote to Reporters Ahead of 2025 NFL Preseason

Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel appeared to be feeling philosophical during the third week of training camp.

"Good morning? False. Great morning, let's go," McDaniel told reporters on Monday.

When asked why the morning was great, McDaniel answered, "Because we're another day closer to death."

The Dolphins are hoping to bounce back from last season's 8-9 record and playoff miss behind a healthy season from quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.

McDaniel, who is reportedly signed in Miami through the 2028 campaign, is heading into his fourth season as the team's head coach.

He said Sunday that the goal of training camp is to create "a style of play that's unique to your own team," according to the Dolphins' official transcript.

McDaniel will look to continue establishing that identity as training camp continues in Miami Gardens, Florida, leading in to the Dolphins' preseason opener on Sunday against the Chicago Bears.
