Jacob Fatu Tells Funny Story in Video About 1st WWE Single Match vs. Jey Uso

Paul KasabianAug 4, 2025

Jacob Fatu sat down with the Club 520 podcast for an interview that dropped Monday and covered a number of topics, including a funny moment that happened during his first-ever WWE singles match with Jey Uso (21:50 mark).

"It was my first singles match," Fatu began.

"With Jey Uso. As soon as the bell rang, I look at him and I go, 'What's next?' He look at me like, 'What's next? Lock up!'"

Fatu's first singles match was a win over Uso on the Nov. 24, 2024 edition of SmackDown. The moment Fatu mentioned appeared to happen at the 27- or 28-second mark, right before the two locked up.

Fatu wrestled on the independent scene for various promotions from the start of his professional career (2012) until 2019, when he joined Major League Wrestling. He stayed with MLW for five years, winning both the MLW World Heavyweight Championship and MLW National Openweight Championship.

Fatu briefly wrestled for New Japan Pro-Wrestling in 2024 before joining WWE later in the year, making his debut in June. He joined the Bloodline and quickly established himself as a vicious heel and enforcer while working tag matches.

Five months after his debut, Fatu wrestled one of his cousins in his singles debut.

Fatu notably faced another one of his cousins, WWE United States champion Solo Sikoa, for the title at SummerSlam on Sunday but fell in a steel cage match. Fatu has been established as a monster who's tough to beat, and it took a lot of interference from others Sunday for him to lose. The big man showed off his athleticism, though, with this moonsault.

Ultimately, Fatu may have blanked in the beginning of his singles debut, but it's certainly worked out for him in WWE.
