Last year's winner came from Lake Mary Little League in Florida, the first time the state had a champion at Williamsport. Lake Mary is once again representing Florida in the Southeast Region tournament.
The United States has accounted for 40 champions over the history of the event, with California providing eight of them, while Pennsylvania, Connecticut, New Jersey and Hawaii have each had four champions.
Taiwan has had the most champions amongst the international entrants, at 17, while Japan has had 11 winners and Mexico and South Korea have each had three.
