Dustin Rhodes' Surgery Set After Historic AEW TNT Title Loss, Latest Rumors on Return

Joseph ZuckerAug 3, 2025

All Elite Wrestling star Dustin Rhodes is going to be sidelined until 2026 due to a knee injury, according to Fightful Select (via Steve Carrier of Ringside News).

Rhodes posted Saturday on social media he needs "a very invasive major surgery" thanks to an injury from his loss to Kyle Fletcher on Collision. Fightful reported he requires double knee surgery.

The 56-year-old combined with Fletcher to deliver a brutal Street Fight, the likes of which are typically reserved for a pay-per-view or premium live event. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter's Dave Meltzer awarded it five stars on his famed rating scale.

Rhodes holds the ROH tag titles with Sammy Guevara and is one-third of the team alongside Marshall Von Erich and Ross Von Erich that owns the ROH six-man tag belts. His injury throws the ROH tag scene into upheaval.

Rhodes didn't give any indication that he's thinking about walking away from wrestling for good, but a major knee injury raises obvious questions about his long-term status.

Sending a legend into retirement or semi-retirement will certainly help to burnish Fletcher's heel credentials.
