Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
"It was great, me and him just giving each other just so many tips and just feeding off the knowledge from each other on the field," Robinson told ESPN's Marc Raimondi in a story published Sunday. "And we worked for the whole month, so I got to see how he worked, he got to see how I worked, and we got to put it together and it was just really cool.
"Two guys coming together just trying to make each other better, and he taught me a whole bunch of nuanced moves that I got to learn on the field, and I did the same with him."
Luke McCaffrey, who is a Washington Commanders wide receiver and Christian's brother, also joined the pair of running backs as they trained and recovered in the Los Angeles area.
Highly regarded track and field coach Randy Huntington was one of the trainers as well.
"I was super fired-up that he joined us for a little bit, and I don't have any bad things to say about him," Christian McCaffrey said of Robinson while also calling him "a special guy, special person, and a special player."
There is no doubt Robinson is a special player, as he is coming off a dominant second season in the league that saw him tally 1,456 rushing yards, 431 receiving yards and 15 total touchdowns. He made his first career Pro Bowl and seems well on his way to being one of the best running backs in the league for years to come at the age of 23.
It was also the type of season that McCaffrey has been known for throughout his career.
The 2023 Offensive Player of the Year has led the league in yards from scrimmage and overall touchdowns twice. Yet he was limited to just four games in 2024 because of Achilles and PCL injuries.
All eyes will be on his ability to bounce back and return to form in San Francisco in 2025, which makes his recovery this offseason all the more important. And Raimondi noted part of McCaffrey's training with Robinson included a new form of red-light therapy in an elevation chamber called Stratosphere ATC.
If it pays off and McCaffrey returns to form, he and Robinson could be battling for the title of best running back in the NFL.
So get the popcorn ready for when they face each other in a Week 7 showdown on Oct. 19.
