Titans' Jeffery Simmons Reveals He's Lost 20 Pounds, Talks Diet Before 2025 NFL Season

Julia StumbaughAug 2, 2025

Tennessee Titans defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons lost 20 pounds while preparing for the 2025 NFL season, he told reporters on Saturday (h/t ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.)

Simmons credited his transformation with limiting his menu to chicken and fish, per Fowler.

"I mostly definitely see the quickness, and the more twitchiness, especially the upper-body rotation," Simmons said (h/t NFL reporter Kayla Anderson.) "When you're doing pass-rush, everything is about, here.

"And when all this is slim and lean, it's a big difference."

Simmons told reporters during mandatory minicamp in June that he had weighed in at around 301 pounds and didn't want to exceed 305 this season, per Nick Suss of the Nashville Tennessean.

The defensive tackle has previously been listed on the Titans' roster at 305 pounds, but said his previous playing weight had often been around 315 pounds, per Suss.

Simmons is looking to make more of an impact on defense this fall after recording 5.0 sacks in 16 games of the 2024 season, marking his lowest single-season total since his second NFL campaign in 2020.

He's not the only Titans player who has reported losing a significant amount of weight this offseason.

JC Latham told reporters in May that he had lost 33 pounds this season ahead of his upcoming switch from left to right tackle, per TennesseeTitans.com's Jim Wyatt.

The Titans will now hope Latham's offseason work, combined with the arrival of new players like Dan Moore Jr. and Kevin Zeitler, will help result in a stronger offensive line while Simmons' slim-down can help him and T'Vondre Sweat more effectively lead the defense into the 2025 campaign.
