Giants' Cam Skattebo Had Injury 'Setback,' is 'Day-to-Day' in Camp, HC Daboll Says

Adam WellsAug 2, 2025

New York Giants running back Cam Skattebo is going to miss some time due to an injury issue.

Head coach Brian Daboll told reporters that Skattebo will be "day-to-day" after suffering a "setback" during Friday's practice.

Bobby Skinner of Giants Nation Show posted video of Skattebo walking off the field with a trainer after the injury occurred.

The Athletic's Dan Duggan noted on Friday the belief is Skattebo is dealing with a hamstring issue, but the Giants haven't confirmed specific details.

Skattebo's hamstring was causing him problems during the scouting combine. He took part in the broad and vertical jumps, but skipped the 40-yard dash and on-field drills because of a hamstring injury.

There was no indication from the combine drills he did do that Skattebo was limited in any way.

Skattebo did work with the team during OTAs, including getting reps with the first-team offense, but he didn't take part in individual or team drills during the first two days of mandatory minicamp.

The start of training camp did see Skattebo back on the field when he took part in New York's first padded practice on July 28. His showing earned praise from Daboll, who called him "physical" and "a hard guy to bring down" with the ball in his hands.

Skattebo was one of the breakout college stars in 2024 for Arizona State. The fifth-year senior ranked second in FBS with 1,711 rushing yards and 2,316 yards from scrimmage, trailing Boise State standout Ashton Jeanty in both categories.

The Giants selected Skattebo in the fourth round of the 2025 NFL draft. He is competing with Devin Singletary to be the No. 2 back going into the regular season, with Tyrone Tracy penciled in as the starter.
