Charlie Woods Surges Into Tie for 2nd Place at Junior PGA Championships After Round 3

Charlie Woods, the son of legendary golfer Tiger Woods, wrapped up a strong finish in the third round of the Junior PGA Championships on Thursday.

The younger Woods recorded a 5-under 66 in Round 3 at Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex in Indiana, sitting in a tie with Pennson Badgett for the No. 2 spot on the leaderboard heading into Friday's final round.

Woods owns a total score of 12-under for the tournament, while Lunden Esterline sits atop the leaderboard at 19-under.

While surpassing Esterline and emerging victorious in the event may be difficult, a runner-up finish would still guarantee Woods a spot on the United States Junior Ryder Cup team.

Thursday's performance from Woods was also particularly impressive after he sat in a tie for the No. 46 position on the leaderboard at the conclusion of Round 1.

The 16-year-old racked up nine birdies compared to just four bogeys in the third round, which included three birdies over his final five holes on the back nine.

Woods is roughly one week removed from missing the cut in the U.S. Junior Amateur Championship, but has quickly bounced back in the Junior PGA Championships.
