Sami Zayn Beats Kross at WWE SummerSlam 2025 amid Karrion, Scarlett Contract Rumors
Sami Zayn defeated Karrion Kross on Night 1 of SummerSlam on Saturday, adding to the uncertainty of Kross and Scarlett's future in WWE.
A pivotal moment occurred when Scarlett encouraged Zayn to use a steel pipe while Kross was lying on the side of the ring (and a distracted referee was tending to him).

Zayn thought long and hard but decided against using the weapon, throwing it out of the ring. Eventually, he won with a Helluva Kick.
Last week, Fightful Select (h/t Steve Carrier of Ringside News) reported Kross and Scarlett have told people in wrestling that their WWE contracts are set to expire in August and they have not signed new deals.
Fightful also reported WWE sources have been relatively silent on the matter, refusing to confirm if a deal has been reached or if one is even being negotiated.
Kross has been a thorn in Zayn's side for the past few months, often approaching him backstage and attempting to influence him with his often cryptic and ominous promos.
That led to a singles match between them at Night of Champions in June, which Zayn won, but their rivalry was far from over at that point.
On the July 7 episode of Raw, Kross attacked Zayn with a steel pipe, putting him on the shelf temporarily and rendering him unable to compete in a gauntlet match to determine the World Heavyweight Championship challenger at SummerSlam.
Zayn was out for revenge on the July 21 Raw when he had a rematch with Kross, but Kross got the better of him thanks to the use of a steel pipe introduced into the match by Scarlett.
With Zayn and Kross earning one win apiece, a rubber match was announced for SummerSlam to determine a clear winner.
In the final interaction between Zayn and Kross prior to SummerSlam, Kross attempted to get in Zayn's head, but Zayn was defiant, promising to beat his rival and expose him as a fraud.
Zayn was true to his word in the form of a victory at SummerSlam, and it is fair to wonder if that may have been the WWE swan song for Kross and Scarlett.
