Jayden Daniels Explains Added Muscle After Viral Photos at Commanders' Camp in Video
Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels discussed bulking up during the offseason while preparing for his second year in the NFL.
"They're on my team but you've got Von Miller, Daron Payne, guys like Frankie Luvu, Bobby Wagner running after you," Daniels said during an appearance on SportsCenter (6:40 mark). "So, I'm glad they don't have to tackle me but I know I gotta go up against some people this year that might be trying to get after me a little bit. So I gotta be able to withstand some of those blows when it comes to taking a hit."

Daniels noticeably added muscle during the offseason.
"I just know I got stronger naturally over time," Daniels explained (6:17 mark). "That's what everybody's telling me, you can see the pictures, kind of crazy. That just comes with natural maturity. I'm just a tall, lanky kid. I put on a couple of pounds, put on some muscle and now everyone's trying to blow it up like I went from 185 to 250."
The 24-year-old is looking to build upon a 2024 season in which he blew past expectations, completing 69.0 percent of his throws for 3,568 yards and 25 touchdowns compared to nine interceptions.
Daniels also showed off his dual-threat ability, rushing for 891 yards and six scores.
He helped lead the Commanders to a 12-5 record, as they eventually advanced to the NFC Championship Game for the first time since the 1991 season. Daniels was rewarded for his effort with Offensive Rookie of the Year honors.
As he gears up for the 2025 season, the signal-caller is making sure that he can play through even more contact.
