Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Rapoport noted that negotiations for Ferguson's new deal "occurred under the radar," and he's already signed the contract.
The Cowboys selected Ferguson with a fourth-round pick in the 2022 NFL draft. In three years, he's appeared in 47 games with 38 starts and has career numbers of 149 receptions for 1,429 yards and seven touchdowns. He had a breakout performance in the 2023 playoffs when he recorded 10 catches for 93 yards and three touchdowns in a loss to the Green Bay Packers in the NFC Wild Card Round.
Ferguson will play a key role in a rejuvenated Dallas passing attack that will surely benefit from the return of star quarterback Dak Prescott, who was limited to eight games last season due to hamstring surgery. The team also acquired wideout George Pickens from the Pittsburgh Steelers to pair him with star receiver CeeDee Lamb.
The Cowboys will be looking to return to title contention this season after falling short of the playoffs in 2024 following their disappointing 7-10 finish, and rewarding Ferguson with a new deal is a step in the right direction.
