Jets' Justin Fields Practices After Toe Injury During NFL Training Camp

Julia StumbaughJul 28, 2025

New York Jets quarterback Justin Fields participated in 11-on-11 practice on Monday and appears to be a "full go," according to The Athletic's Zack Rosenblatt.

Fields participated in team drills on Saturday for the first time since dislocating his toe during Thursday's training camp practice, according to ESPN's Rich Cimini.

Fields completed all six of his pass attempts during 7-on-7 drills while connecting with Garrett Wilson, Tyler Johnson, Xavier Gipson, Brandon Smith and Arian Smith, per Rosenblatt.

Fields was carted off the field on the Thursday with an injury head coach Aaron Glenn later identified as a dislocated toe on his right side.

He returned to practice Friday but did not participate in team drills. Tyrod Taylor took over with the Jets' first-string offense, with Adrian Martinez and Brady Cook also getting reps, per the AP's Dennis Waszak Jr.

Fields resumed work with the team while also participating in individual quarterback drills on Saturday.

Glenn identified Fields' toe injury on Friday as a "day-to-day" issue.

"Just trying to ease him in," Glenn said after Saturday's practice about Fields resuming participation in drills. "We said before, it's going to be a collaborative process... to make sure that he's ready-ready when he gets the ball to be involved in the team drills and things like that.

"I thought he did a good job in the 7-on-7. The thing is, he has a ways to go until we get him out there."

Glenn went on to push back against a reporter who said Fields might be "behind" in adjusting to the new offensive system after missing parts of Friday's practice.

"He's going to be just fine. He missed one day, he's been in meetings, so he'll be just fine," Glenn said, per SNY.

Jets training camp runs through Aug. 13, with preseason action set to begin against the Buffalo Bills on Aug. 9. The Jets will hope to have Fields back at full capacity before the regular season kicks off with a Sept. 7 home game against Rodgers and the Pittsburgh Steelers.
