DK Metcalf Talks Aaron Rodgers' Bathroom Policy as Suitemates at Steelers Camp

Aaron Rodgers and D.K. Metcalf are working on building chemistry ahead of their first season with the Pittsburgh Steelers by living during training camp in side-by-side rooms with a shared bathroom at Saint Vincent College.

Metcalf told Yahoo Sports' Jori Epstein on Thursday that this setup has led to some offseason negotiations between the two teammates.

“The toilet is super loud,” Metcalf told Epstein. “So he was like, ‘Yeah, at night, if we got to piss, just don’t flush the toilet.’ I was like, ‘All right, bet.’”

Metcalf said that policy led to him texting Rodgers on Wednesday night to check if the quarterback was awake before flushing the toilet, per Epstein.

The wide receiver previously told reporters that he had learned about the shared bathroom when he heard a sound at what he thought was his front door before realizing it was Rodgers knocking from the bathroom.

"He was like, 'Aw, man, I was hoping it was you.' I was like, 'Eh, I did not think I was going to have a roommate, but glad to see you too,'" Metcalf said Thursday.

Metcalf continued, "It was a good experience, just to see his face and knowing that we could continue conversations outside of here."

Building the connection between Rodgers and Metcalf will be key to the success of the Steelers' offense as the team heads into 18th season under head coach Mike Tomlin.

Metcalf said Thursday that he doesn't believe there can be a "timetable" to establishing chemistry with his new quarterback, but that he and Rodgers still needed to "iron out all the details about route depth, or how I release, or how I want to catch the ball running and everything."

Rodgers and Metcalf will get the chance to continue working on those aspects of their passing game as Steelers training camp continues through Aug. 12 at Saint Vincent. The team's preseason slate begins with an Aug. 9 trip to Florida to face the Jacksonville Jaguars.
