Naomi Beats Rhea Ripley, Iyo Sky to Retain Women's World Title at WWE SummerSlam 2025

Mike ChiariAug 3, 2025

Naomi beat Iyo Sky and Rhea Ripley in a Triple Threat match on Night 2 of WWE SummerSlam on Sunday to retain the Women's World Championship.

The finish saw Ripley hit Sky with a top-rope riptide and cover her, but Naomi snuck up from behind to grab Ripley and use the tights for leverage to score the pinfall.

All three women had moments to shine in the bout, including one sequence when Naomi went to pin Ripley after a split-leg moonsault only for Sky to hit an over-the-moonsault during the cover for a near-fall.

Ripley took to social media after the match to share her thoughts:

The Triple Threat was technically a rematch of the Evolution main event last month when Naomi shocked the wrestling world by successfully cashing in her Money in the Bank contract in the midst of a singles bout between Sky and Ripley.

In the weeks prior to Evolution, Sky chose Ripley as her opponent, leading to debates regarding whether The Eradicator would be able to beat The Genius of the Sky after failing to defeat her in any of their previous championship matches.

Ripley and Sky proceeded to put on one of the best matches of the year and perhaps one of the top women's matches in WWE history at Evolution.

However, when they were so evenly matched that they were both laid out on the canvas during the latter stages of the match, Naomi ran down and took advantage by cashing in.

Naomi hit Sky with the Money in the Bank briefcase, threw Ripley into the ring post and out of the ring and then hit The Genius of the Sky with her split-legged moonsault finisher to steal the win.

It was the ideal end to the show for Naomi, who had lost a hard-hitting No Holds Barred match to Jade Cargill earlier in the night.

By virtue of beating Sky and Ripley, Naomi became women's champion for the third time in her WWE career, and for the first time since dropping the SmackDown women's title in 2017.

Given the circumstances of Evolution, Sky and Ripley were almost immediately given a rematch for the Women's World Championship at SummerSlam, setting the stage for another potential banger between three of WWE's best female Superstars.

Unfortunately for Sky and Ripley, the result at SummerSlam was the same as Evolution with Naomi prevailing and retaining the women's world title.
