Nix earned a spot on the list after stepping in as a Week 1 starter and leading the Broncos to a 10-7 record, ending an eight-year postseason drought with a trip to the Wild Card round.

The rookie quarterback completed 66.3 percent of his passes for 3,775 yards while throwing 29 touchdowns to 12 interceptions, while adding 430 yards and four touchdowns on the ground.

Those passing stats included an NFL-high 904 yards for eight touchdowns while Nix was running at eight miles per hour or more, per NFL Pro and NFL.com's Christian Gonzales.

Nix said in May his focus was on "finding a way to get better" ahead of his second season, and cornerback Patrick Surtain II told reporters on Tuesday that the quarterback was "even more confident going into this year."

Sean Payton meanwhile told reporters Wednesday that Nix has been working with Drew Brees this summer as part of his effort to improve his game.

"He's someone that works his tail off, wants to improve... there's a lot that he wants to absorb in a fast period of time," Payton said about Nix on Wednesday.

The decision to place Nix on the Top 100 list is an indication that players around the league believe offseason work will allow him to make a leap in year two under Payton's guidance.

Hines-Allen was listed at No. 35 on the 2024 top 100 after ranking second in the NFL with a career-high 17.5 sacks in 17 games of the 2023 season.

That number dropped to 8.0 sacks through 16 games in 2024. Although Pro Football Focus reports that Hines-Allen still finished the campaign ranked top-10 in the NFL with 46 hurries and 63 total pressures, the Jags are likely to see more production out of their star defender after signing him to a five-year, $141.25 million extension ahead of the 2025 season.

Hines-Allen said in June that going up to a career-high 285 pounds as part of his effort to slot in as a defensive end under former Jaguars defensive coordinator Ryan Nielsen put "a little bit more wear and tear" on his body, per ESPN's Michael DiRocco.

"See, I don't know because I was also getting banged up a lot more. My body was not cooperating as much as I would want it to," Hines-Allen said about his decreased production in 2024, per DiRocco. "I take care of my body to the utmost, but it was a little bit different. I don't know if that had something to do with the weight. So, that's something I took into consideration coming into this season."

Hines-Allen didn't confirm his weight heading into training camp, per DiRocco. He is listed on the Jaguars' roster at 255 pounds.

The Jags will hope Hines-Allen finding a weight that works for him, in addition to working under a new system led by former Green Bay Packers linebackers coach Anthony Campanile, will help him reclaim his status as one of the NFL's top defenders this fall.

The NFL Top 100 is being released each weekday leading up to when the top 10 are announced on Monday, Sept. 1 on NFL Network.
