Lamar Jackson Says He's 'Just Getting Started' in NFL Career Ahead of 2025 Season

Winning two MVP awards and three All-Pro first-team selections in seven seasons wouldn't seem to leave a lot of room to grow, but Lamar Jackson isn't putting any limits on what he can do.

The Baltimore Ravens superstar told reporters on Wednesday after his first training camp practice of the season that he's "just getting started" with his career.

Jackson has already had a Hall-of-Fame-worthy career if he stopped playing. He is one of 11 players in NFL history with multiple MVPs and one of eight quarterbacks in the Super Bowl era with at least three All-Pro first-team selections.

The three All-Pro first-team selections for Jackson are more than Patrick Mahomes (two). Mahomes' overall resume is stronger thanks to three Super Bowl titles and five appearances. Jackson has yet to play in a Super Bowl, including losing to Mahomes in the 2023 AFC Championship Game.

There is some evidence to suggest Jackson will keep improving. Last season marked his best as a passer with 4,172 yards and 41 touchdowns. He posted the fourth-best passer rating in NFL history (119.6) and became the first player to record at least 4,000 passing yards and 900 rushing yards.

The Ravens have been on the cusp of getting over the hump in the playoffs in each of the past two years. They have lost their last two playoff games by a total of nine points, with their 2024 season ending when Mark Andrews' dropped a potential game-tying two-point conversion with 1:33 remaining in the AFC Divisional Round against the Buffalo Bills.

As intense as the competition in the AFC is, the Ravens enter the 2025 season with arguably the best roster in the conference, led by Jackson. They have all the pieces in place to make a run to the Super Bowl if things fall into place.
