The AFC North team created plenty of build up to its release with a hype video and collaboration with The Pat McAfee Show leading up to the reveal moment:

The Browns announced the all-brown alternate helmet that will be worn with their all-brown jersey combination will be deemed "Alpha Dawg."

It features a matte all-brown shell, two orange stripes and an all-brown facemask, which makes it the first time in franchise history the team will wear a brown helmet.

Cleveland will wear the helmet during its Sept. 21 game against the Green Bay Packers, Oct. 19 game against the Miami Dolphins and Dec. 7 game against the Tennessee Titans. All three games are at home.

The "Alpha Dawg" helmet becomes the Browns' third helmet, as their white helmet is the other alternate one they wear at times. The NFL expanded its uniform policy in 2022 allowing for the addition of a third helmet, although the alternate helmets can only be one with authorized uniforms.

Dave DeNatale of WKYC Cleveland noted the Browns also built up hype for the reveal with a large, circular object covered by a Browns tarp floating on a raft in the water. The timing of the release coincided with the opening of training camp.

The question now is who will be under center when the Browns wear their new helmets.

With Deshaun Watson sidelined by injury, it appears to be a four-man race between Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders. Cleveland's approach to select two rookies in the middle rounds of the 2025 NFL draft certainly turned heads, but they will have to beat out a veteran in Flacco if either of them is going to start.

Cleveland went 3-14 last season, so whoever wins the starting job will be under immediate pressure to help turn things around in a difficult AFC North.

And things don't start off easy with an opening matchup against Joe Burrow, Ja'Marr Chase and the Cincinnati Bengals on Sept. 7.
