Just ask the Tennessee Titans quarterback himself.
He told reporters Wednesday's practice was "mid" in a quick summary of how things unfolded.

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Fortunately for the Titans, there is still plenty of time to get things right before their Sept. 7 opener against the Denver Broncos. And that is especially true when there is a rookie quarterback under center who is just getting accustomed to the NFL level.
Tennessee made Ward the face of the franchise when it selected him with the No. 1 overall pick of the 2025 NFL draft. It hasn't officially named him the starter at this point, although anyone else starting would be shocking.
After all, Will Levis was ruled out for the season because of a shoulder injury that required surgery. Perhaps the Titans envisioned Levis starting at the beginning of the season while Ward further learned the NFL game, but that is no longer an option.
With Brandon Allen and Tim Boyle as the other signal-callers, Ward absolutely has the inside track to be the starter.
While the Titans surely want him to hit the ground running and turn in a dominant rookie campaign, his ability to fully live up to his potential over the course of the long-term future is more important. That might mean taking things a bit slow at the start of his first training camp in the NFL.
But there is plenty of room for improvement if his own assessment is any indication.
Whether that improvement comes will go a long way toward determining how successful the Titans are in the AFC South this season.
