Keenan Allen Reportedly Eyed By 'Multiple Teams' for Free Agent Contract amid Rumors

Scott PolacekJul 23, 2025

Keenan Allen is reportedly on the radar of several clubs around the NFL.

NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported Wednesday "multiple teams" have shown interest in the veteran, who has "been waiting for training camps to open to better assess the landscape and get a clearer picture of each team's wide receiver situation."

While Schultz did not mention any specific teams, it is not a stretch to guess the Los Angeles Chargers might be interested.

After all, Allen is a franchise legend who played the first 11 years of his career on the Chargers. He was a six-time Pro Bowler during that span and surpassed 1,000 receiving yards in six different seasons.

What's more, there may be a clear opening, as Mike Williams retired this offseason ahead of training camp. Ladd McConkey and Quentin Johnston could be a solid duo for the Chargers, but they need more depth at the position.

Allen would provide that and veteran leadership, and the fans apparently believed so as well at a recent practice:

But Los Angeles or any other potential suitor will reportedly have to fend off other interested teams for the 33-year-old. He may not be quite the same playmaker he was years ago at his peak, but he was still productive last season with 70 catches for 744 yards and seven touchdowns as a secondary option for the Chicago Bears.

Allen was able to take advantage of spacing when opposing secondaries focused on DJ Moore and Rome Odunze in 2024, and he could do the same for another team that already has a No. 1 or 2 option.

Someone will likely sign Allen ahead of the 2025 season, which will then allow him to focus on pursuing the Super Bowl ring that has eluded him to this point.
