Cam Ward Injury, Latest Rumors on Titans QB's Shoulder and Surgery Decision
Tennessee Titans rookie quarterback Cam Ward will not need surgery after exiting Sunday's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars with a shoulder injury, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Ward was seen wearing a sling on the sideline during Sunday's game:
Ward was knocked out after scoring Tennessee's first touchdown in the opening quarter. He took a hit as he extended the ball across the goal line.
He was subsequently ruled out for the remainder of the contest.
With his season now over, the No. 1 overall pick amassed 3,169 total passing yards with 15 touchdowns and seven interceptions to lead the Titans to a 3-13 record entering Sunday.
Ward was originally expected to compete with Will Levis for the starting job ahead of his rookie season. The Titans then announced over the summer that Levis had undergone season-ending shoulder surgery, which set the first-year player on track to take on the QB1 role.
Brandon Allen, who has started just one NFL contest over the past three years, was called upon to finish out Sunday's finale.
For the Titans more broadly, their focus shifted to 2026 the moment they fired coach Brian Callahan. He was jettisoned after just six games, with Tennessee starting 1-5.
Ward had some moments when he showed why he was the consensus top quarterback prospect in the 2025 draft, yet his numbers tell the story of how much work he has ahead.
His development will be a focal point as the Titans examine the candidates in their coaching search.
