Cardinals' Trey McBride, Steelers' Jalen Ramsey Named Nos. 65, 66 on NFL Top 100

Scott PolacekJul 23, 2025

Jalen Ramsey and Trey McBride are the 66th- and 65th-best players in the NFL, respectively.

At least in the eyes of their peers.

Ramsey and McBride are the newest names in this year's edition of the NFL Top 100 countdown, which has been gradually revealed throughout the offseason as the 2025 campaign approaches. It is the 15th consecutive year that current players voted for the list, and the top spot will be revealed Sept. 1.

While he is still in the top 100, this marks quite the drop for Ramsey.

He was No. 25 on last year's list when he was still a member of the Miami Dolphins and coming off his fourth consecutive Pro Bowl selection.

The drop might not be entirely fair, though, as he appeared in all 17 games last season and was still effective on his way to 60 tackles, 11 passes defended and two interceptions. Pro Football Focus gave him an overall player grade of 76.9, which was 17th out of 222 cornerbacks in the entire league.

He was a bright spot for a Miami team that largely struggled to find consistency on the way to an 8-9 record.

Drop or not, there is no arguing with Ramsey's resume. The No. 5 overall pick of the 2016 NFL draft has played for the Jacksonville Jaguars, Los Angeles Rams and Dolphins and is a three-time First-Team All-Pro selection and seven-time Pro Bowler. He also won a Super Bowl during the 2021 campaign with the Rams.

The Florida State product has been in the headlines this offseason as well considering the Dolphins traded him to the Pittsburgh Steelers in a deal that brought safety Minkah Fitzpatrick to Miami.

Ramsey is now part of a high-profile Pittsburgh secondary that also includes Joey Porter Jr. and Darius Slay and will be tasked with slowing down the likes of Ja'Marr Chase, Tee Higgins, Zay Flowers, DeAndre Hopkins and Jerry Jeudy, among others, in the AFC North.

Perhaps he will be fueled by his drop in this year's Top 100 list and take it out on those receivers with a dominant season.

While Ramsey dropped in this year's list, McBride made an appearance after he was not included in the Top 100 for 2024.

His debut comes as no surprise, as he was a Pro Bowler and one of the best tight ends in the league last season. He finished with 111 catches for 1,146 yards and two touchdowns as a matchup nightmare for opposing defenses and safety valve for quarterback Kyler Murray.

About the only thing he didn't do was score consistent touchdowns, as it became a running storyline that he wasn't getting into the end zone until he finally did during Arizona's Week 17 game against the Los Angeles Rams.

Just for good measure, he scored another one in the season finale against the San Francisco 49ers.

McBride is just 25 years old and figures to be a foundational building block for the Cardinals for the foreseeable future. He has clear chemistry with Murray and can take advantage of the additional space in the secondary when opponents focus on Marvin Harrison Jr. and the other wide receivers.

This year might be his debut in the Top 100, but he is someone who could be included on the list for years to come.
