Deion Sanders Attends Bucs Training Camp to Watch Son Shilo in New Video, Photos

Colorado head coach Deion Sanders attended Tampa Bay Buccaneers training camp on Wednesday to watch his son, undrafted rookie safety Shilo Sanders, begin competing for an NFL roster spot.

The Buccaneers shared a video of Sanders speaking with head coach Todd Bowles ahead of Wednesday's practice.

Multiple reporters shared photos and videos of Sanders watching from the sideline as his son participated in drills.

Sanders recently spent time out of the public eye due to an undisclosed health issue he said in a video posted earlier this week he is "still going through."

He made an appearance earlier this month during Big 12 preseason media days on July 9 in Dallas.

Sanders then recently told Shilo on a phone call, a video of which was posted on July 16 on Deion Sanders Jr.'s YouTube channel, that he would visit him ahead of his first NFL season.

"I'm going to try my best to rent a plane and come down to see you, then go see Shedeur and go to work," Sanders said on the call.

Shilo joked, "You're coming to my practice first. That means I'm your favorite son."

Shedeur Sanders, who played with Shilo on their father's Colorado team for the last two seasons, is competing for his own roster spot with the Cleveland Browns this summer.

The Browns currently have four quarterbacks on the roster, so Shedeur is competing with Kenny Pickett, Joe Flacco and Dillon Gabriel to lock down a spot on the 53-man roster.

Shilo is meanwhile looking to carve out a role on a positional depth chart led by All-Pro safety Antoine Winfield Jr., where Tykee Smith, Christian Izien and Kaevon Merriweather are also vying for playing time.

If Merriweather beats out Shilo for the final starting spot, the former Colorado starter could look to prove his value on special teams or the practice squad in order to continue working toward a larger role on the roster.

Like Bucs training camp, the Browns began training for the 2025 season on Wednesday. It sounds like Sanders might be stopping by the CrossCountry Mortgage Campus next as he visits both of his sons before returning to Boulder to prepare for the 2025-26 college football season.

How Shedeur and Shilo perform during training camp and during the upcoming preseason will play a part in determining whether they remain on their respective rosters by the time NFL teams cut down to 53 players on Aug. 27.
