Paige Bueckers Ties Caitlin Clark's WNBA Record As Wings Beat Nneka Ogwumike, Storm

It took Paige Bueckers a grand total of one game back from being an All-Star Game starter in her first season to put her name in the WNBA record book.

The rookie led the Dallas Wings to an 87-63 victory over the Seattle Storm on Tuesday with 14 points, six assists and four rebounds on 5-of-11 shooting from the field. She also tied Caitlin Clark's league record as the fastest player to reach 300 points and 100 assists in the process:

Despite making history, she wasn't Dallas' leading scorer in the win. That honor went to Arike Ogunbowale, who caught fire from deep on her way to 20 points, three rebounds and three assists on 7-of-12 shooting from the field and 4-of-6 shooting from beyond the arc.

Haley Jones also stuffed the stat sheet off the bench with 10 points, six rebounds, six assists, three blocks and two steals as the Wings snapped a four-game losing streak and improved to 7-17.

Seattle won the first two head-to-head matchups this season, but Tuesday's game was a different story with leading scorer Skylar Diggins sidelined. Nneka Ogwumike did what she could with 22 points, but the home team collapsed in the second half and fell to 14-10 on the campaign.

It seemed like the Storm would cruise to an easy victory when they jumped out to a 36-26 advantage in the second quarter. However, the visitors closed the first half on an 8-0 run as Ogunbowale drilled a triple in the final second.

They didn't slow down and opened the second half on a 9-0 run behind the veteran's red-hot shooting.

Dallas pulled away from there and extended the lead to 15 heading into a fourth quarter that ended up being nothing more than a formality. In fact, it outscored the Storm 53-27 after intermission in one of the team's best performances of the season.

That wasn't the only good news for the Wings, as DiJonai Carrington returned from injury for the first time since June 20.

While she was just 1-of-7 from the floor on the way to four points off the bench, she grabbed six rebounds and provided the type of depth that has been missing during her absence.

But the story was ultimately Bueckers making history as she continued her impressive rookie season. Not only did she fill the stat sheet, but she turned it over just a single time despite being one of the primary ball-handlers and floor general.

It was more of the same after she set a record for the most assists in an NBA or WNBA All-Star Game without a turnover with eight.

Bueckers will look to keep her individual momentum rolling and get the Wings another win when they take the court Friday on the road to face the Golden State Valkyries.
