Becky Lynch Beats Lyra Valkyria to Retain WWE Women's IC Title at SummerSlam 2025

Becky Lynch beat Lyra Valkyria in a no-count-out, no-disqualification match on Night 2 of WWE SummerSlam on Sunday to retain the Women's Intercontinental Championship.

The Man's win came with an inadvertent assist from Bayley, who interfered earlier in the bout to prevent Lynch from attacking Valkyira with a crowbar.

Valkyria went to get Lynch at the ropes, but The Man ducked and Bayley hit the challenger with a fist wrapped in a chain. Lynch followed that by hitting Valkyria with the Manhandle Slam for the pin.

When Bayley originally emerged, there was a moment of hesitation when she teased hitting Valkyria with the crowbar before going after her fellow former Four Horsewoman.

Due to Lynch's victory, Valkyria can longer challenge for the women's IC title for as long as Becky holds it, per an agreement they made prior to the match.

The rivalry between Lynch and Valkyria dates back to the Raw after WrestleMania 41 when The Man turned her back on her former friend.

At WrestleMania 41, Valkyria was scheduled to team with Bayley in a WWE Women's Tag Team Championship match against Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez, but The Role Model was attacked beforehand and rendered unable to compete.

Lynch made her surprise return after nearly a year away as Valkyria's replacement partner, and they went on to beat Morgan and Rodriguez for the titles.

Morgan and Rodriguez were given a rematch the next night on Raw, and after they were victorious, Lynch showed her true colors by attacking Valkyria and later revealing herself to be Bayley's attacker.

That led to a feud between Lynch and Valkyria over the Women's Intercontinental Championship. Lyra won their first meeting at Backlash, but The Man came out on top at Money in the Bank to win the women's IC title for the first time.

Bayley returned to the fold shortly thereafter to get revenge on Lynch, but she and Valkyria ended up having some conflict with each other as well since they were both in pursuit of the IC title.

They both got a crack at the belt in a Triple Threat match against Lynch at Evolution, but The Man won to retain.

Valkyria and Bayley then faced off in a 2-out-of-3-Falls No. 1 Contender's match on the July 14 episode of Raw, which Lyra won to earn another title shot against Lynch at SummerSlam.

Valkyria was looking to become the first two-time women's intercontinental champion in WWE history, but with Lynch prevailing, she cannot challenge for the title again until The Man loses it.
